Bentley Flyers Radio Control Model Aircraft Flying Club

About The Club

Due to the actions of a complaining property developer neighbour, Mr John Spires of Taxmere Farm House, we have now lost the Arclid field as an I.C. power flying site.

However we are activly seeking a new facility.

We have applied for planning permission on the Arclid field for Electric only flying.

We have appealed against restrictions on the number of days that we may fly.

This application is at present being reviewed by a government planning department.

Alternatively, model club flyers meet on the first Thursday of the month at, The Brocklebank. Weston Lane, Crewe, mid Cheshire......
8 pm start......

Come and have a noggin and a natter.

Bob Bentley is our Chairman.

Dave Flecher  is our Secretary.

Please note.

Details below about the Arclid field are not relevent at the moment

The Bentley works model aircraft flying club, Crewe, Cheshire, has been established since control line days. The club originally served as a focus for the interests of aero modellers who worked at the (formerly Rolls Royce Bentley) now Bentley factory in Crewe.

Today you no longer have to work at the Bentley factory to join the club, and we now welcome all other aero modellers of any age who live or work in Crewe, Sandbach and surrounding areas.

We have an active membership of all ages and we welcome new members of any age and flying ability, be they total novice or top flight expert.

We fly R C models at the King George the Fifth playing fields at Crewe and on a private field at Arclid near to Sandbach. The Arclid flying field has a close mown and rolled grass landing strip, is open 5 days per week and there are no nearby trees to intimidate the beginner.

Also the field is dry all the year round and is not prone to flooding in winter, as is the case with many club flying fields. As for parking, there is a large lay-by adjacent to the club field.

The field is located by the crossroads at Arclid, where the A50 Knutsford to Newcastle road, is intersected by the A 534 Sandbach to Congleton road.

If you are interested in joining, feel free to pop down to our flying sites to meet us and introduce yourself. The best time is Saturday morning or Wednesday morning from about 10-30 am onwards at the Arclid field.

There are usually members on hand at those times, unless the weather is really bad! Friday afternoon is becoming busy also.

Please note; We are a fixed wing only, I.C. and Electric, Radio Control Model Aircraft Club. There being a separate R C Model Helicopter Flyers Club operating near Sandbach for the rotary beginner and experienced heli flyers.
